= Installation in an existing Fedora machine =
'''NOTE:''' this is '''notNOT''' a recommended method to install, unless it's done on a fairly clean install of the distribution. The reason is that some things that may have been done to the machine that may affect the way the HDA Amahi behaves. In that case, issues may be harder to debug/fix. The recommended method is doing it [[self-install|from scratch]].
Regardless, here are the install instructionsIt is important to note that, all of them executed as full root (either "su -" or logged in directly as root or as sudo): == Fedora 10 == * Install the Amahi release for Fedora 10  rpm -Uvh http://f10.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release-1.0-1.noarch.rpmAND rpm -Uvh --nodeps http://f10.amahi.org/i386/hdactl-2.43-1.i386.rpmor rpm -Uvh --nodeps http://f10.amahi.org/x86_64/hdactl-2.43-1.x86_64.rpm '''NOTE: When it says "or", you would select your arch there, meaning if its 64bit, you would do the second, 32bit, you do the first. BUT YOU ALWAYS DO THE FIRST COMMAND LISTED BEFORE "AND".Amahi cannot be fully uninstalled''' * Then, also as full root (/usr/sbin/hda-install is not in the path otherwise), do this:<small><pre><nowiki> yum -y install hda-suite hda-install -f YOURINSTALLCODE</nowiki></pre></small> == Fedora 9 == * First, update to Fedora 9.5 ([http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2008-August/msg00012.html long story]):<small><pre><nowiki> yum -y install fedora-release</nowiki></pre></small>* Install the Amahi release for Fedora 9<small><pre><nowiki> rpm -Uvh http://f9.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release-0.3-1.noarch.rpm</nowiki></pre></small>* Then, also as full root (/usr/sbin/hda-install is not in the path otherwise)traditional sense, do this:<small><pre><nowiki> yum -y install hda-suite hda-install -f YOURINSTALLCODE</nowiki></pre></small> In both cases, * Replace '''YOURINSTALLCODE''' with your install code, obviously* [http://bugs.amahi.org Report bugs in because the platform category]!* Save settings affect some subsystems across the output machine and paste it to the bug reportoriginal state of those subsystems is not preserved.
