Sometimes, Vista and Windows 7 don't resolve the host-only Amahi uses. Here's a possible fix that worked for me on Vista/Windows 7

For Windows Vista

  1. From the menu, select Control Panel then Network Connections
  2. Right click your ethernet card (or similar) and select properties
  3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and press the properties button
  4. Click the "Advanced" button
  5. Select the DNS tab
  6. Press the "Append these DNS suffixes (in order)" button
  7. Add your home server's domain name (eg. home.com)
  8. Press the required OKs, apply, close ...

For Windows 7

  1. In Control Panel select Network And Sharing Center
  2. In the left margin, select 'Change adapter settings
  3. Right click your ethernet card (or similar) and select properties
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and press the properties button
  5. Click the Advanced button
  6. Select the DNS tab
  7. Press the Append these DNS suffixes (in order) button
  8. Add your home server's domain name (eg. home.com)
  9. Press the required OKs, apply, close ...
