WARNING: There are NO applications publicly available in Amahi for Fedora 14 at this time.
Development Notes
DISCLAIMER: These notes are for development of Amahi with Fedora 14. These notes are not by any means anything for users to follow. Please continue to install Fedora 12 for new Amahi installs. Fedora 14 is not OFFICIALLY supported yet by Amahi.
The following ARE NOT Amahi ready with Fedora 14 at this time:
- ExpressCD: estimate late Feb 2011
- Plug: depends on Fedora 14 ARM release
Fedora 14 DVD Downloads
32-Bit (3.4GB): | Http | Torrent |
64-Bit (3.3GB): | Http | Torrent |
Amahi Repo
- 32-bit and 64-bit is ready.
- Use http://f14.amahi.org for install.
- App store is not complete yet - there are NO apps publicly available.
Amahi Install
- Web installer works.
- Open browser and navigate to http://localhost:2000
- Enter install code
Known Issues
- Fedora creates small root (/) and large home (/home) partition. Recommend users resize them to allow for a larger root partition since that is where the Amahi shares reside.
- Installation instructions are not updated for Fedora 14.
- Ensure Graphical Desktop is checked.
- Add Amahi repo as noted above.
- Then continue with install as documented.
- There is a problem with setting the timezone in PHP. A workaround is in place to allow the install process to continue. This will affect some apps.

Broken Apps: NOT publicly available yet in Amahi for Fedora 14
- phpBB: Works, but has [phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /index.php on line 86: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead
- Mantis: Works, but has SYSTEM WARNING: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/Chicago' for 'CDT/-5.0/DST' instead
- ajaxterm: Installed, but but says 'Service Termporarily Unavailable'
- Horde: Installed, but does not work. Login screen missing Login options.

Install without Logical Volume Management (LVM)
OK now here is the easy/hard part. I recommend you set up disk partitions without using the default lvm setup. Heres how.
AT the partitioning point of the f14 installer:
1.go to the bottom and select “Create Custom Layout” and click “next”
2. on the new screen delete lv-root and lv-swap by selecting one at a time and clicking delete.
3. Next delete “vg_xxxxxxx” the same way by clicking on it and hitting delete. Note: the xxxxxx is different on every machine.
4. Now delete ALL partitions under hard drives. Now you will see free space the size of the drive
5. Click on free space and click create. On the menu select “standard partition” go to file system type and click “Swap.” if you have over 2GB of ram and plenty of HDD space give it 1GB or so “Fixed” size. I myself have 1 GB reserved but I have never had to use it. Hit OK
6. Click create again, and we will make a /boot mount point. Click free space, click create, “Standard Partition” under mount point select “/boot” file system type is “Ext4” you should be ok with 500MB here. I would not go under 200 or so. Click OK
7. ok now the last one. Your ROOT partition. I would make it the rest of the disk. Just click free space, and create one more time. Under mount point select “/” under file system type select “EXT4” under leave the size box along and select “Fill to Maximum allowable size” that will use up the rest of the disk, and give you plenty of room for a landing zone if you plan to use greyhole. 8. Click NEXT and select “Write Changes to Disk”
