Each HDA contains a personal/home wiki instance for your use. It is accessible as

http://wiki/

in your browser.

For even more simplicity, you can simply type wiki in the browser.

What is a wiki?

But ... what exactly is a wiki, you ask?

From Wikipedia (an online encyclopedia built with wiki technology that popularized wikis worldwide):

A wiki is a website that allows visitors to add, remove, and otherwise edit and change content, typically without the need for registration. It also allows for link

ing among any number of pages. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative authoring. The term wiki also can refer t o the collaborative software itself (wiki engine) that facilitates the operation of such a site, or to certain specific wiki sites, including the computer science si te (the original wiki) Wiki Wiki Web Wiki Wiki Web and online encyclopedias such as [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki Wikiped ia].

Editing the wiki

Wikis today are still best edited with wikitext, though some wiki engines have some GUI (graphical user interfa ce) editor for editing the pages. In some cases, the GUI editors are usable, however, they may not be able to exploit all the formatting features in wikitext.

Consider the differences in editing this page with the Edit (Text) button on the right, vs. the Edit (GUI) button below it. In the text case, the edit page will tell you at the bottom s ome of the wikitext you can use, such as italics; bold; bold italics; mixed bold and italics.

  • Shared Documents: if two people attempt to edit a given page at the same time, the second one will be warned that there is someone editing that page already. The f

irst person editing the page will have a few hours to edit the page, at which point, that edition of the page will time out.

  • Creating new pages: a new page is created when a user puts a Word With Camel Case or [[Words with brackets and double quotes]] .
This will create a new link, which, when clicked, will create a new page. When creating a new page, the user is offered with some templates of pages which can be mo

deled after.

Templates

The wiki comes prepared with a few templates from which you can copy and paste into your own pages. Here are some examples:
