* mac osx does support joining a windows network

* Linux supports samba shares

* Windows 7 needs the following registry tweak:

HKLM\System\CCS\Services\LanmanWorkstation\Parameters

DWORD DomainCompatibilityMode = 1

DWORD DNSNameResolutionRequired = 0

** there is a warning kicked up that can be ignored. reboot and you are there

** However ... currently can only get temp profiles to work
