This contributor role as Editor is designed for polishing and making the beta apps look their best prior to releasing them live.

This is a level of contributor appropriate for those not too familiar with packaging apps, but who would still like to contribute by helping improve the ever-important appearance of the apps, how they are described, the logos and screenshots.

Once you become an Editor you should be able to see a menu called "Beta Apps" in the control panel, above the HDA control box, to the right.

You can see all beta apps and should be able to click Edit to polish them as much as you can, in terms of:

  • English usage that matches or improves the app's original homepage and authors' descriptions
  • Making sure their HTML is valid HTML. To help with this, here is a link to perform automatic HTML validation on the app's description page in amahi.org

and last, and probably most important,

  • Making sure each app has an attractive logo and screenshot that grabs the user's attention and makes the app look good.

Most people make a decision to install an app based on the app's screenshot and the short description.

The descriptions and the special instructions are rendered as HTML and validating correctly in HTML is a condition to make an app live.

In addition, you can also create new apps as a "wishlist" of apps, to make it easier and quicker for contributors who prefer to work on the "technichal" guts of the apps. :)
