The Amahi home server is a server for home and home office environments.
Our The focus of the Amahi server is to build a home server with usability, cross-platform standards compliance and overall ease of use in mind.

We interpret The term "home networking " is defined very broadly. The Amahi server is meant to be installed by somewhat technical you, the tech users (though the only requirement is to be able to install Linux). Ultimately, though, the goal is to benefit those less technical regular computer users in the home. Every technical tech user we know has others who he/she helps run need their help in running their "digital lives," like spouses, kids, neighbors, cousins, elder relatives, etc.Amahi is about making your life easier while helping them '''much better.'''
We set out to build a "PDA for the home," usable by everyone in a home or a small business environment. To describe best what the Amahi server is, we came up with a term: '''HDA''' ... "like a PDA, but for the home: ." So, HDA stands for Home Digital Assistant, which is what Amahi is all about.
Every Amahi HDA provides all the things you would want in a home server:

It's The Amahi server is Linux-based and we want to make it 100% compatible with PCs and Macs. We want to make it a joy to install , run, and more so, a joy to use by the users!
= Getting Started =
To get started with Amahi, [[self-install|install it]] on spare hardware. Most people will take this route. :-)
Alternatively, a company graciously donated a few old machines and made a few higher end others at favorable price, and we're looking for new alpha users who want also not just the hardwaresoftware!
