Elements of a screencast

  • Idea for the topic of the screencast
  • Title
  • Small description (1-2 Paragraphs)
  • Knowledge about how to preform the task for the screencast
  • Video capture of the task
  • Small intro video (~6 seconds)
  • Small ending video (~4 seconds)

Steps

  1. Create a rough script
  2. Record a rough screen capture
  3. Record a voice over using rough script
  4. Watch the rough screen capture with the voice over
  5. Edit script
  6. Create a new (near-final) voice over
  7. Record a new (near-file) screen capture while listening to voice over
  8. Import the latest screen capture and voice over to a video editing program
  9. Add a small intro video, with a title
  10. Play the screen capture and the voice over at the same time
  11. Edit video and audio to be synchronized
  12. Add a small ending video (optional)
  13. Export the entire screencast
