The Amahi home server is a GNU/Linux Home Server makes your home networking simple. We like to call the Amahi servers HDAs-based, for "Home Digital Assistants." Each HDA delivers all the functionality you would want in a home open-source network server, while being as easy to use as a web browser.
* It is meant to be headless, and running 24x7.* Some people also use it as a desktop, while still serving the rest of the home network.* It has the following features:** Centralized storage server** Bare metal backup server** Calendar server** Wiki server** Remote access server (for secure remote access to your files) (i.e. VPN).** Printer server** ... and other types of installable services:*** Bittorrent server*** Slideshow generator*** Recipes database*** ... and many more in the online [http://www.amahi.org/apps Application Gallery]!  We think there are two "types" of users for our HDAs: * The core functionality available in technical user (the one who installs and runs it)* The real user of the base Amahi HDA install includeshome network:spouses, kids, etc. We have a few features that are directed towards making life easier for one or the other, or both. However, ultimately, the real users are the non-technical users. The features directed towards the technical user are meant to make his/her life easier when running a home network for the benefit of all the users.
Protect Your Computers Backup all your networked PCs simply and easily on your home network. If one of your PCs "dies" you can easily restore it!
Organize Your Files Access, share and search your files from any machine on your network, making it easy to share and find your photos, music and videos.
Internet Wide Access Automatically setup your own VPN so you can access your network from anywhere: safely and securely.
Private Internet Applications Shared applications like calendaring, private wiki and more to come, will help you manage your home and your family!
