Basic help for new Linux / Amahi users and WHS converts

  • If you came over for example from WHS and have never used Linux before, this is the place to start.


  • First, you have to install Fedora 14, following the Fedora_14_install_guide
  • Next, install Amahi following the Amahi 6 install guide: User_talk:Slimborama_Amahi
  • Now you should have a running homeserver.
  • Should the installation stop at some percentage, see Installation_troubleshooting
    • To get a console with root permissions, start a console, enter "su", press Enter
    • You will be prompted for your root password, enter it, then you have the necessary permissions (you can see the name before the prompt change).
    • To leave the root console and become a normal user again, type "exit".
