Punching DNS Holes
This is useful when you´ve created your account and set up the Amahi-server. You are asked to disable your previous DHCP. Now Amahi is running the DHCP and the DNS-services of your network. If you already have an external URL with the same name as yourhda.com then you will probably run in to some problems reaching those external services like mail and www-sites
The easiest way to fix this is to create an alias for the external URL and "punch a hole in the local DNS-server"
Go to http://hda/setup?sub=2&tab=network
- Add a new alias
- Fill in alias: the service you want to reach on your external URL, but only the first part. "mail" or "www"
- In the Ip-adress field fill in the external IP-adress for your external URL. (Four sets of numbers with dots inbetween)
That would do the trick (at least it did for me)
