VLC Media Player will connect to DLNA on Mac & Linux.
On Linux you will need the [http://www.cybergarage.org/cgi-bin/twiki/view/Main/CyberLinkForJava CyberLink UPnP ] plugin. If you manage to install it, please report back here!
On Mac you can click on File > Service discovery > Universal Plug'n'Play discovery.
