If you uninstall mount_shares_locally by removing the files (.smb_credentials, /etc/init.d/mount_shares_locally), you will need to do one more thing:
chkconfig --del mount_shares_locally
Once done, you will also need to do:
rm -rf /mnt/samba/*
Now if you choose to reinstall, your machine will be in a clean state.
