The Amahi Linux Home Server makes your home networking simple. We like to call the Amahi servers HDAs, for "Home Digital Assistants." Each HDA delivers all the functionality you would want in a home server, while being as easy to use as a web browser.

The Amahi home server is a GNU/Linux-based, open-source network server.
 +

 +
* It is meant to be headless, and running 24x7.
 +
* Some people also use it as a desktop, while still serving the rest of the home network.
 +
* It has the following features:
 +
** Centralized storage server
 +
** Bare metal backup server
 +
** Calendar server
 +
** Wiki server
 +
** Remote access server (for secure remote access to your files) (i.e. VPN).
 +
** Printer server
 +
** ... and other types of installable services:
 +
*** Bittorrent server
 +
*** Slideshow generator
 +
*** Recipes database
 +
*** ... and many more in the online Application Gallery!

The core functionality available in the base Amahi HDA install includes:

Protect Your Computers Backup all your networked PCs simply and easily on your home network. If one of your PCs "dies" you can easily restore it!
+
We think there are two "types" of users for our HDAs:
Organize Your Files Access, share and search your files from any machine on your network, making it easy to share and find your photos, music and videos.
+

Internet Wide Access Automatically setup your own VPN so you can access your network from anywhere: safely and securely.
+
* The technical user (the one who installs and runs it)
Private Internet Applications Shared applications like calendaring, private wiki and more to come, will help you manage your home and your family!
+
* The real user of the home network: spouses, kids, etc.
 +

 +
We have a few features that are directed towards making life easier for one or the other, or both. However, ultimately, the real users are the non-technical users.
 +

 +
The features directed towards the technical user are meant to make his/her life easier when running a home network for the benefit of all the users.

Transmission is a fast, easy, and free multi-platform BitTorrent client.
 +
 +
Transmission is designed from the ground up to balance power with simplicity. We've set initial preferences so things "Just Work", while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks.
 +
 +
When Ubuntu chose Transmission as its default BitTorrent client, one of the most-cited reasons was its easy learning curve.
 +
 +
With few dependencies and written in C, Transmission has the lowest memory footprint of any BitTorrent client we've seen. It's also the client of choice on low-memory hardware. Imageshack chose Transmission for its BitTorrent farms because the competition "requires amounts of memory several times greater than Transmission". Native.
 +
 +
Unlike some cross-platform programs, Transmission seamlessly integrates with your operating system. The Mac OS X interface is written in Objective-C and uses Growl notifications and dock badging to keep you informed.
 +
 +
"It's fast, it's extremely lightweight, and — even though it's available for a variety of platforms — it behaves just as you'd expect a Mac program to." Macworld, naming Transmission a "Mac Gem"
 +
 +
The GTK+ interface has been carefully written with the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines in mind. It uses libnotify for torrent notification, DBUS for hibernation management, and GIO for watch directories. Powerful.
 +
 +
Transmission has the features you expect in a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web-based interface, peer exchange, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, web seed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more. Free.

Bryan Clauser  is a San Francisco Homicide Detective and main protagonist in the novel Nocturnal by author Scott Sigler. He is also the partner "Pookie" Chang.  When introduced in the novel, Bryan has been having violent and disturbing dreams about attacking high school bullies that fill him with a sense of dread that can only be assuaged by drawing a particular symbol.

Transmission is free software. All its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.

Welcome to Amahi!

The Amahi home server is a GNU/Linux-based, open-source network server.

  • It is meant to be headless, and running 24x7.
  • Some people also use it as a desktop, while still serving the rest of the home network.
  • It has the following features:
    • Centralized storage server
    • Bare metal backup server
    • Calendar server
    • Wiki server
    • Remote access server (for secure remote access to your files) (i.e. VPN).
    • Printer server
    • ... and other types of installable services:
      • Bittorrent server
      • Slideshow generator
      • Recipes database
      • ... and many more in the online Application Gallery!

We think there are two "types" of users for our HDAs:

  • The technical user (the one who installs and runs it)
  • The real user of the home network: spouses, kids, etc.

We have a few features that are directed towards making life easier for one or the other, or both. However, ultimately, the real users are the non-technical users.

The features directed towards the technical user are meant to make his/her life easier when running a home network for the benefit of all the users.

Transmission is a fast, easy, and free multi-platform BitTorrent client.

Transmission is designed from the ground up to balance power with simplicity. We've set initial preferences so things "Just Work", while advanced features like watch directories, bad peer blocking, and the web interface can be configured with just a few clicks.

When Ubuntu chose Transmission as its default BitTorrent client, one of the most-cited reasons was its easy learning curve.

Native.

Unlike some cross-platform programs, Transmission seamlessly integrates with your operating system. The Mac OS X interface is written in Objective-C and uses Growl notifications and dock badging to keep you informed.

"It's fast, it's extremely lightweight, and — even though it's available for a variety of platforms — it behaves just as you'd expect a Mac program to." Macworld, naming Transmission a "Mac Gem"

The GTK+ interface has been carefully written with the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines in mind. It uses libnotify for torrent notification, DBUS for hibernation management, and GIO for watch directories. Powerful.

Transmission has the features you expect in a BitTorrent client: encryption, a web-based interface, peer exchange, UPnP and NAT-PMP port forwarding, web seed support, watch directories, tracker editing, global and per-torrent speed limits, and more. Free.

Transmission is free software. All its code is freely available online and is licensed under either the GNU Public License v2 or the MIT License. The development team welcomes anyone who is interested in contributing code, documentation, translations, or other help.
